SAM'S ESCAPE

   On a planet was a kingdom without any rulers.  The aliens that were living there were called Rupuses.  There were some disadvantages to being born on this planet.   Every voice they heard sounded the same.  Everything they touched felt hard.  However, they had better eyesight than an eagle.  The aliens on this planet had tails that looked like scorpions which had  powerful venom. Another thing they had was ice in their fingertips.  They got their ice when they were five and venom at eight. 

 

   On this planet, they had a strange law.  Whenever they needed to have a baby, they had to have it in jail until they had their baby. The babies had to be ten years old to be allowed out except the royals.  No exceptions. The only time they could go out was on their birthdays.  The time they were released was at age 11.

        

  One of these aliens was Sam.  They had regular human names like ours.  He was living in jail at age 4.  Tomorrow was his birthday, the day he got to go out of jail and would get his ice in his fingertips.  Every day, the kids tried to leave the jail before ten.  He tried to do the same too.   Last time it was his birthday, he was three and he didn’t even think about escaping.  Now he wanted to escape more than ever.  However, he wondered if he should wait until he got his venom.  Every kid that tried to escape had failed to flee from them.  He wondered if he should wait until he got his ice and time to use it first.  Even though there were many kids who were living in prison, there were many more adults that were guarding the jail.  In the end, he decided to sneak away at age 9.

 

    Four years later, he was 9 years old and was ready to flee from jail.  He had to dig out of the ground but there was no other way out because all of the doors were carefully guarded.  The reason that they made the floor out of grass and weeds is because they had no beds in jail.  He also had hid his secret from other kids because he didn’t want the floors to be guarded too.  When Sam tried to dig, it didn’t work at all.  So, he drilled the ground with the tip of his tail and smashed it out with his side.  Then, he asked his friends if  they could cover up the hole.  When they were done, he dug to the side and hit the wall!  Then he realized that what he thought was a wall was actually a diamond the size of his own tail.   He used it to dig a deeper hole then move to the side.  There were many other small diamonds in his way but he just ignored them and shoved them along.  When he was sure that he had gotten deep enough, he left the diamond where it was and dug sideways for a few minutes.  However, he had trouble going up the hole.   He didn’t want to use his ice because he would want to save it.  So, he went back and got the small diamonds to stack his way up.

 

   When he finally made his way out the tunnel, he had dug only up to the jail door.  Right after he saw where he was, he went straight to the mine of teleportation with his gigantic diamond.  However, when he went there, he didn’t know what to take and how to use it.  He was very desperate to have something so he traveled to the well of knowledge.  There, he pushed the diamond in and he covered it up. The well looked like a regular well.    He knew that if he drank from the well, he would know everything.  It would be the same for mind reading.  When he drank it though, he felt the same.   

 

   He decided to just leave the well and head straight for the castle.  So, when he was slowly dragging himself to the castle, he decided to just take a break.  When he woke up, there were guards standing over him.  So, he thought that he had to go to jail again.  However, he was pulled into the palace.  One of the rupuses asked him what he was doing out there.  They thought that he was one of the royal princes!  When he told them that, they were confused and all started talking at once.  They all fell silent when he asked them why the other rupuses had to be in jail.  Someone told him that they were in jail because they tried to escape prison.  That meant as soon as they figured out that he wasn’t a prince, he would be dragged into jail instead of prison.    

 

   He knew that he would get in more trouble if he lied and would stay in jail longer than if he told the truth.  So, he admitted that he had escaped from prison.  When guards came towards him, he announced loudly that he would blacken just a day outside.  For some reason, they agreed.  When he rushed outside, he immediately found some rock a little bigger than him.  Sam spent all his time carving a statue of him.  When the guards came for him, he pushed the statue in front of him and hid.  The guards took it without suspecting anything.  Then he followed them inside the palace.  He went straight to where the meetings took place.    

 

   The royal rupuses was wondered how he had escaped prison and jail both.  So, he was sent outside their palaces because he could overhear their discussion if he stayed.  However, he climbed on the roof to listen.  He brought a rock with him in case he needed to make another statue.  Sam heard that they were planning to freeze him with all of their ice.  So, he made another statue that was made out of the hardest rock he could find.  He slid the statue to the room that they were talking in.  They immediately all shot their ice at the fake Sam and they all smashed their tails at it until it hurt.  They thought that he was dead by now.  By then, their tails were so tired that they couldn’t feel it.  Also, they had run out of ice.  Sam came charging in the room.  He stopped in front of the door and moved the sculpture out of the way and took its place.  

 

   All of the rupuses in there were raging with anger. They tried to chase him but their heavy tails weighed them down.  So, they called the guards that were at the door.  Quickly he made a shield out of his own ice.  That way, the poison couldn’t get to him and spraying ice would just be building to his shield.  The only worry he had was that their tails broke through the ice.  When they did break, he threw the pieces inside their armor.  It took a while to remember that ice will melt and they will be fine.  By the time they did remember, he was halfway to the well of knowledge.  When he got there, a few soldiers were already there.  

 

   Sam wondered if they found the diamond.  He dug until he found it and ran quickly to the palace.  He ran swiftly towards the palace with an idea.  When he appeared in the meeting room, he showed the diamond and proclaimed that he would give the diamond to them if they let everyone in jail free.  They agreed and when he came back to prison with the news.  The reason the kids were able to push through the adults was because the adults were stunned and the kids were thrilled to get out of jail for once.  They were so overjoyed that they made Sam king of the whole prison.  Soon, the prison was made into a stronghold that was bigger than the original castle on the planet where the rupuses lived.
